Introduction to R U Red E? Ministries, Inc.

R U Red E? Ministries, inc was founded by John Gunden in the summer of 1991 with a group of guys, (Bill Radam, Dennis Helms,  Lou Driscoll, Chip David, Larry Goff, Dave Brown and Dave Keleher) in Orlando Florida.  The current board consists of Bill Radam, Mike Lorencz, Dennis Helms, Dave Robbins and John Gunden.

The mission was simply, "Taking the Gospel to a Teenage World".  John Gunden was a seasoned evangelist to teens with much of his training and background in YFC (Youth for Christ) a ministry whose first full-time evangelist was none other than Billy Graham in the 40's.

John was already receiving invitations to share his faith and music from all over the world through various para-church organizations, (YFC, Young Life, Great Commandments Ministries, World Servants, Campus Crusade For Christ and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.)  Since it's inception, John has preached to thousands of teens over the years and has seen over 17,500 teens commit their lives to Jesus Christ in Denmark, The Gambia, Germany, India, Mexico, Namibia, Romania, Sierra Leone, and the United States.

John's four oldest children, Harrison, Emily, Graham, and Gretta, have teamed up with dad to form, "The John Gunden Band" the new ministry team that now spreads the Gospel.  This year alone they have taken the Gospel to India, Sierra Leone, W. Africa, Mexico, Cape Cod and Tieton, WA seeing hundred's surrender their lives to Jesus Christ.

 R U Red E Plants Churches

Our 3rd church plant was, "The River's Edge"  a real dream come true!  This home church, with an emphasis on reaching teens formed seven years ago in lakeside Caseville MI, home of the Gunden Family.  There John serves as Pastor and His family serve in various ministries that support the church family.  It has grown considerably in a rural town of 800.  Many "un-churched" (Christians without a home church & Unbelievers) folks have found faith in Jesus Christ through this humble yet vibrant ministry.

The first church plant happened seemingly by accident in Iasi Romania.  John was invited by Jeff Sutton, of Great Commandments Ministries, to do outreach on the college campus at a night club, many received Christ as Lord and Savior and through Jeff's leadership and a community of missionaries there, a church was formed, Ecclesia,  which has since planted 2 other churches, one in communist Moldova, and another across town in Iasi, Romania.  This church has also sent in a missionary team to Iraq!

The second church plant happened by invitation from Michael Turay who was then director of YFC in The Gambia.  He invited John to present the Gospel to teens in The Gambia and then Sierra Leone his native country.  They made their way back into a village one hour away from Freetown at a time of unrest.  Upon arrival they found a stage built, a generator running, and sound system blaring out the tunes of a local band.  John set up his one man band and proceeded to sing, share his testimony and present the Gospel.  That night nearly 300 souls came to Christ, the next night more than 300 came to Christ.  When John was done, he and Michael introduced the new pastor for this newly formed group of believers.  6 months later brutal civil war burst onto television screens on CNN worldwide!

The next church was "Journey Ministries," in Davison, MI which was formed from a group of people who visited The River's Edge in Caseville, frequently while vacationing in the area.  They have grown rapidly, have a full time pastor and are successfully nurturing the un-churched in Davison, a sizeable town just outside of Flint.  We were able to help them through the initial stages of organizing as a fellowship.  Visit them at www.journeymin.org.

This year, R U Red E will send "The John Gunden Band" and a "Mobile Impact Team" (MIT) comprised of 4 students from "Antioch Christian Training School" (ACTS) in Washington, to Freetown, Sierra Leone to plant another "The River's Edge Community Church".  They have coordinated with another team led by Dave Robbins of Falmouth Mass., who will lead another team prior to their arrival, helping the community prepare for the kick off.  John and the family will help launch the services for 2 weeks and then hand the ministry off to Pastor Michael Turay, a very capable national who will serve as lead pastor.  Michael is currently Director of Pioneering Ministries for YFC international.   This church will have a special focus on the youth of Freetown and an emphasis on church planting itself in W Africa.  The MIT will stay as well to serve Michael in the nurturing of a new church for 11 months.
